Standard SCR power controllers are designed for heating loads, not motor speed control. Single-phase universal motors or some fan applications can sometimes be controlled, but induction motors require a variable frequency drive (VFD). Using an SCR regulator on an induction motor will result in poor performance, overheating, and possible damage.
